  8. What Are They?
  9.  
  10.    CAN.EXE is  a simple utility that you can use to replace the DEL
  11. command. Instead of deleting the file that you want to remove, CAN
  12. moves a copy to a directory on your C: drive, and then deletes the
  13. file. If you accidently delete an important file, you go to the CAN
  14. directory, and copy the file back to it's original directory.

  16.    DUMP.EXE is the utility that you use to clean out your CAN
  17. directory. When CAN transfers your unwanted files, it also sets the
  18. file attributes of those backup files to Read Only. This is to keep
  19. you from accidently deleting those backup files.

  21. How Do I Get Started?
  22.  
  23.    To begin using CAN, you must first copy these two files, CAN.EXE
  24. and DUMP.EXE to your DOS directory (or any other directory that is
  25. in your Path). Then, create a directory on your C: drive named CAN.
  26. Don't put CAN.EXE and DUMP.EXE in that directory, as you will lose
  27. them the first time you use DUMP.

  29. How Do I Use CAN?

  31.    The Syntax for using CAN is simply:

  59.    CAN will remove all of the contents of a directory if you
  60. accidently use the name of a directory as a filename. It will,
  61. however prompt you before it removes the files.

  63. How Do I Use DUMP?

  65.    The Syntax for using DUMP is simply:

  67.                        DUMP  (or DUMP.EXE)

  78.    I have used CAN and DUMP on my computers, and they have caused
  79. no problems. The concept here is that I am trying to keep myself,
  80. and those that work with me from making mistakes that would cause
  81. the loss of Data. However, if the programs are misused, it is
  82. possible that you could lose Data. I make no warranty on these
  83. programs. You are using them at your own risk. Gosh, I feel better.

  85. What is Freeware?

  87.    These programs are Freeware. They are yours to use, to copy, to
  88. distribute (give them to your Mom for Mother's Day), and whatever
  89. else, as long as you don't charge anything for them (other than the
  90. connect time from Compuserve or another ONLINE service). You
  91. cannot, and I repeat CANNOT charge any duplication charges or any
  92. other charges for these programs. Also, as I am a fan of big
  93. business, any Fortune 500 companies that want to use this program
  94. are welcome to it, and I might even be willing to provide copies
  95. with other Paths and directory names so you can use them on a
  96. network. These programs cannot be altered in any way, and this
  97. READ.ME file must be included with the Executable files. If you do
  98. feel the need to violate my wishes, then I hope that something
  99. awful becomes you.
